Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick

Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick & somebody else were in the courtyard of The Truman’s brewery. It was a pancake race. All very silly. The musicians were there to add “authenticity” to it I suppose.  But it was interesting to see them there.  Their playing was just as wonderful as ever. Martin Carthy used to perform at the Singers Club which in the 60s when I came to London in the 60s was  in situ in various pubs including the John Snow in Broadwick Street & the Union Tavern in Margery Street. Both pubs are still there. But at what point the Singers Club ceased to exist I don’t know. This is them. I don’t know who the banjo player is. Maybe a Waterson.
